Citywide Spring Cleanup Day is set for Friday, May 4thbeginning at 8:00 a.m. until completion to pick up the following materials (note normal refuse pick-up will continue): All items must be CURBSIDE by 6:00 a.m.
Building materials, debris, demo material and household furnishings will be picked up at $10 per cubic yard.
Appliances including water softeners, refrigerators, (NO RV FRIG), freezers, water heaters, dehumidifiers, stoves, washers, dryers, microwaves, air conditioners, computers, monitors, tv’s, and electronic waste will be picked up at the curb at a cost of $20 per item. Please note that computer and monitors are considered 1 item.
Leaves and grass clippings MUST BE BAGGED and will be picked up free of charge.
Also the refuse haulers have indicated that should an individual be interested in disposing of a junked vehicle, these would be removed during the month of May free of charge conditioned on the fact that a clear title can be provided.
Concerning the Police Department, Police Chief Struffert has indicated that during the officer’s scheduled patrol, the community will be canvassed for compliance with the city’s junked cars and household furnishing ordinances.
Lyon County intends has established a drop off location in Granite Falls for collection on Saturday, May 5th. The hours for pickup will be 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. The location will be at the Yellow Medicine County Highway Shop. Prices for items are as follows:
