City Council

The Granite Falls City Council invites you to attend all open meetings of the City Council on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 7:00 pm in Granite Falls City Hall. Members of the public are permitted and encouraged to voice their concerns, ask questions, and offer opinions at each meeting. 

Closed sessions only occur when executive sessions are called to discuss pending litigation, property acquisition, or personnel matters. Otherwise, the doors are always opened and all interested parties are invited.

Overview: Mayor Dave Smiglewski was appointed to fill a vacant Council spot on July 16, 1979 and assumed the position as Mayor following the death of Mayor Roy Lenzen on February 5th, 1996. Mayor Smiglewski also serves on the Street Committee, Community Education Board and the Utilities Commission.  Dave passed away September 22, 2023.  The remainder of his term will be filled by Council Vice-President Steve Nordaune.
